Help/advice needed - the chassis on my 1998 Mantis is overall not TOO bad, but is showing the usual rusting as the powder coating has broken down and largely fallen off. Good news is that it doesn't (at the moment) need major section replacement/welding/full chassis replacement, but rather than just whack Waxoyl all over everything for another year, what I want to do is to try to do the best protection job that I can WITHOUT taking the car apart or the body off. Car Radios with USB

Hi Guys,

For lots of you this will sound like I am still in the dark ages - but for the others I wish to share the discovery of having a car radio with a USB port. My Marcos will play CDs, but I have no space in the car for CDs - let alone tapes - and I must admit that for the 8.000 miles or so since I bought it I have mainly listened to the engine - and it plays a sweet tune! I should probably mention that I have no other electronic devices on my person as a rule - except sometimes...

V6 Engine, gearbox & axle

Having just purchased a "New" race prepared V6 + T5 gearbox + 4A Salisbury with LSD the same original standard (27000 mile) components will be available when the new parts fitted - early Dec.

The axle for sale is a fully restored 7HA, gearbox is 4 speed with O/D + bellhousing to V6.

I have only advised on Marcos site at present since I would prefer them to go on a Marcos

I have been digitising my way through 30 odd years of 35mm photo's (bloody thousands to get through) when I can across a lot of long forgotten shots from inside the pit garage at Silverstone on the very first weekend that the two race prepped LM500's started racing.

I haven't seen any other about, so feel free to have a look, feel free to join the group and, if you have any other photo's then post them there also.

Tyre pressures

New car, lots of queries... I have just looked out the tyre pressures on the build manual for the Mantula ; 44psi on the front., 36 on the rear. I picked the car up yesterday and have just checked tyre pressures - 15 psi front and back, no wonder I have grounded several times!
Two questions.
1. Does everyone follow the 44/36psi guide? - I have never had a car that recommended such high pressures!
2. The car has adjustable shocks. Can they all be adjusted for height or is it...

Lack of cabin ventilation

I picked up my Mantula coupe today and drove back in pouring rain . I expected the Marcos to steam up but the influx of steam into the cabin when I hit standing water was a bit of a surprise! The drive was enjoyable despite all this and was certainly memorable. A later outing, along the local B Roads, once the rain had subsided confirmed that the cabin has a flow of hot air through from the engine bay and the only way to drive the car is with the windows open....good job there is a sun...

The panels which hold the bonnet pivots on my 3L V6 have rotted and I need to let in some new wood. I need a couple of pieces about 6" x 6" overall, but I can only buy the correct 12mm marine ply in an 8' x 4' sheet @ £25. If anyone wants to go in with me, I don't mind buying it and cutting it into portions and posting at cost, or you can pick up - I'm in Cheltenham.
This is not the far eastern stuff which will de-laminate quickly; this is fully layered...
