Working carbon fibre

Does anyone have any experience of working carbon fibre? I am making a new dash of the stuff. Cutting circular holes is easy enough with a hole cutter but I need to cut some curves. I have tried various saws but they don't last long! I believe the professionals use lasers.

Someone suggested the dust maybe a health hazard. Anyone know anything about this?

Ways to reduce lift-off oversteer

I discovered lift-off oversteer a few months ago, when pressing hard on a sweeping left hand bend. I backed off suddenly (not advised) and the car instantly tried to shoot towards the left. It was very exciting for a moment as my brain caught up with my instinctive reaction. It was a sort of "Wow - what the hell just happened" moment. I have made a mental note to try not to snap-off the throttle when pushing hard, but I wonder if something in the setup could be adjusted. Just to...

Rear axle

Can anyone tell me a bit about rear axles?
Did the earlier cars (to 80's) use escort & cortina axles?
I assume the Mantula's use the Capri rear axle.
I have been reading some American magazines and they mention the 8.8 and 9 inch axles as being popular in kits, were these fitted to Uk cars?

Body Stripping

Can anyone give me good advice and procedures for stripping the body components back to the bare shell on my 1969/70 V6?

I am now moving onto the body in my restoration of MJO 801H and any assistance would be appreciated.

Ok guys, has anybody noticed the amount of C**P that comes up on eBay when you search for MARCOS.......more Green Stuff brake bids than we'll all use in a lifetime, Marco Bl**dy Melandri items, car carpets from somebody who can't even spell Marcos model names correctly!!!
If anybody can instruct me on how to restrict my lists to relevant MARCOS goodies I'd be so grateful

Original Marcos Wheels - potential problems

I saw at Prescott, a few cars with the "Original" Marcos wheels (With Logo cast in) where the outer rim, strengthening ribs, and centre hub had been machined and polished. I liked them.

So this week I set a half shaft and attached wheel hub in the lathe and mounted the wheel on it for machining. The first 2 wheels were OK BUT the other 3 all had severe "Wobble" when rotating.

Investigation showed 2 problems as per attached sketch. 1wheel in particular...

For those of you who don't have a complete history of your car, I have just acquired some old Marcos Owners Club mags dating back about 20 years. They are excellent quality with lots of colour pictures and for a lot of the events (especially the timed events) they list all the cars by registration number, and I will be happy to look up someone's pride and joy and see if I can find it. I might even find a picture if it is a star car as they were pretty generous with the colour photos...

Mantara radiator - help needed

Hi, I need to replace the radiator and fans on my 1996 Mantara 3.9.
Does anyone out there know what original vehicle it is from.
There is a Ford sticker on it, but the part number is too faded to read.
Alternatively I guess I could have a copy made specially, but I would rather fit an off the shelf part.
Can anyone help? - thanks.

Help/advice needed - the chassis on my 1998 Mantis is overall not TOO bad, but is showing the usual rusting as the powder coating has broken down and largely fallen off. Car Radios with USB

For lots of you this will sound like I am still in the dark ages - but for the others I wish to share the discovery of having a car radio with a USB port. My Marcos will play CDs, but I have no space in the car for CDs - let alone tapes - and I must admit that for the 8.000 miles or so since I bought it I have mainly listened to the engine - and it plays a sweet tune! I should probably mention that I have no other electronic devices on my person as a rule - except sometimes...
