Glove box and catch

The catch on the glovebox a ballbearing in a brass assembly and is useless. It has been replaced by velcro and this flies open under even modest acceleration. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Also the glove box itself is made of cardboard and masking tape - it is loose and again useless. What was the original marcos spec and are they any good/ obtainable?

Poor fitting perspex headlight fairing

I bought some new perspex headlight fairings from MHS recently. The right one fits nicely -it dosen't seal to the black rubber but is good enough to keep water out.. The curvature on the left is not as tight as the original and I have approx 2mm gaps on either side. The space underneath fills up with water.....seems from Rory that ill fitting perspex is normal for a Marcos.

Anyone had a similar problem and got any bright ideas as to how I could get it to fit and keep most of the...

Running Temperature

I have been using my Mantula as much as I can before they salt the roads round here. Running around Sheffield the car reads 90deg on the temp gauge. Phil, who sold me the car recently suggested I switch the twin Kenlows on at 90 deg, advice which I am following.......

Is 90 deg normal running temp in November ?
What is the running temp likely to be like in the summer?
How high can it go before you boil the cooling system and cause damage?

I'm used to driving...

headlight

hi all,am i seeing things my headlight bulb has blown main beam drivers side on my mantula so i went to change the bulb only to find a sealed glass unit,the bulb doesnt come out so does this mean ive got to change the whole unit if so where can i get one from,any advise would be much appreciated.

Tyre pressures

New car, lots of queries... I have just looked out the tyre pressures on the build manual for the Mantula ; 44psi on the front., 36 on the rear. I picked the car up yesterday and have just checked tyre pressures - 15 psi front and back, no wonder I have grounded several times!
Two questions.
1. Does everyone follow the 44/36psi guide? - I have never had a car that recommended such high pressures!
2. The car has adjustable shocks. Can they all be adjusted for height or is it...

Lack of cabin ventilation

I picked up my Mantula coupe today and drove back in pouring rain . I expected the Marcos to steam up but the influx of steam into the cabin when I hit standing water was a bit of a surprise! The drive was enjoyable despite all this and was certainly memorable. A later outing, along the local B Roads, once the rain had subsided confirmed that the cabin has a flow of hot air through from the engine bay and the only way to drive the car is with the windows open....good job there is a sun...

Steering rack/Big Toe out

Hi,

Just put my chassis back on it's wheels (only took 18 months!) and note that the front wheels have a quite distinct toe out despite the tie rods ends being fully screwed into the rack as per the photo's and are slightly confused as to why ?.
I bought standard GT6 tie rod ends and have already thrown the old ones away to make any comparision. My only thought at present is that they may be slightly longer than the old ones and therefore effectlvely making the rack...

Heated front screen wiring

Can anyone shed light on how the heated front screens are wired. had the car out the other weekend, and it started raining, and the screen misting up. I put the heated screen on, but it didn't seem to work. On checking it out this weekend, I can hear the relay clicking in when I throw the switch, but I'm not sure what conditions to expect on the wires. I've got 4 black wires that seem to be routed to the screen, 2 about 3 inches apart on each side of the screen. Any...

Of those of you that have bought Jem's new book, does anyone recognise the engine on page 103? I am pretty sure that it's in my Manula but has anyone seen a similar setup? It has 4 SUs on a boxer manifold and lots of domestic plumbing copper pipework.

Purple haze will not be complete for Curborough this weekend. I have not been finding enough time to work on her myself, and the changes to the electrics I can't cope with anyway so dependent on the time my electrical engineer neighbour can spare. Looking pretty dire for Prescott even!

Looking at putting a more powerful engine in as standard , think the American v8's will be to heavy so looking at euro v8's . Audi or BMW ...

Hi,

Went to my local Triumph dealer today and bought a front wheel bearing set for my Mantula. The inner hub and stub axle etc is all usual GT6 with Girling AR5 4 pot calipers however when I showed them the disc rotor which needs replacing it was bigger than the standard GT6 disc and they confirmed it was not a triumph part.

I assume just the rotor part can be replaced as it is held on to the inner hub by 6 allen headed bolts and if somebody can tell me what it's from...

mantula 3.9 exhaust manifold???

Has anyone had any experience buying exhaust manifolds from anyone other than Rory.
Im pretty sure the £320 they quoted for a mild steel manifold (Just the drivers side one) is a bit excessive???
If anyone has a company they could suggest maybe nearer south east would also be handy???
