Our LM has not been used much over the winter and when we got her out the garage in April we started experiencing starting problems and we think they are spark
related. We therefore have some questions. It is an LM500 so the Rover V8 5 litre.

I had similar issues a few years back and got it checked on a land rover diagnostics laptop, they replaced the throttle position sensor along with an ecu to
throttle pot connector that hides just under under the plenum, made no difference whatsoever until they traced it to an electrical short at the front of the
wiring loom where there is a sensor on the carbon filter that sits behind the radiator. Also check that connector behind the speedo as it can cause cut outs
when hot.

Apologies if I am telling a mongoose how to suck eggs but avoid the cheapo Taiwan or ilk rotor arms that are often offered by so called respectable firms as a
direct replacement. These often will not have a counter balance built in and the 'plastic' material composition will actually leak high voltages to
earth. OK if you only want to rev to a level suitable to move Grandma's wheelchair but not acceptable if you are a typical gungho Marcos driver!

This has a really good description of what everything does, how it all works and what happens when.
