IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: B & B IN LOUE | #201
|
I have just discovered that the B&B in Loue which I put on the list of accommodation has been sold & is no longer being operated as a B&B. I have
managed to find alternative accommodation for one Marcos couple who had booked there. I know they had 4 rooms in total so hope no other Marcos people have
booked it.

With all the severe weather forcast on Wednesday I have been saturation testing the car - strongly recommend it, the last place to find where the water is
coming in is during a real downpour!
Good job too, as I have fixed a lot of things and it is now much more watertight; however, the neighbours were most amused to see me pouring water over the car from a watering can. |

My mate and Grease Monkey John has said he's not coming now. So me and Mrs Eztop will be traveling alone.
Told him I'd try and re-coup some of the financial loss for him, so anybody want to buy a Club Pass for next weekend ? It covers full entrance to the track for all days + access to the Paddock, and also includes a parking pass for the Bugatti Enclosure (Marcos Cars Only). I will check the price but I think it was around £40 all in. My email from this Forum doesn't seem to work at the moment, so if interested contact Mr Quiffy, he can give you my Mobile number. Sorry, track laps have already been offered to an afore mentioned Green Mantis driving shorty from oop north, unless someone has devised an alternative strategy |

Unfortunately my 1970 Marcos keeps breaking down - not running on all cylinders/changed HT leads and coil / cleaned fuel lines and carbs so will have to go in
ordinary car. See you all there.

"Unfortunately my 1970 Marcos keeps breaking down " This is different to other cars how?
Sorry to hear this, not the points perchance - used to hate them as they were always failing. Hence why I always had home start breakdown service. |

New mods to mantula | #211
|
Though I would share my new modification to the car, ready for the trip down tomorrow. It
provides good vision when driving in torrential rain and sorts out the problems associated with the low height of the cars and limited ground clearance. The
mantula periscope can be fitted to all soft-top variants and can be used in conjunction with the high power bilge pump that deals with the little (huh?) leaks
when driving in inclement weather. To clear the misting of the windows I have modified the alternator to deliver 40KVA and have changed the windscreen to one
fitted with a halogen heater build in. It will clear the mist and give you a suntan at the same time.

Thanks Jack, no points as have magnetic type sensor inside distributor.Obviously this could be faulty, or carbs have blocked main jets. Too late to sort. Am

I'm waiting for my nose to peel. For those of you with Digi photos, please let me have copies to send to PPC Mag, they may do an article or should at least
give us a spread (the editor loves Marcos cars).
We arrived on the Wednesday morning, and it was grey, but the evening turned out nice. It did rain during the night and was a bit hit n miss for Thursday, but by Friday any clouds covering the sun was a blessing. Friday started a bit overcast and the turnout was good But on Saturday afternoon there were so many cars that it was impossible to get them all on the Stand Saturday morning Lewis and me did our laps of the track with me riding Shotgun, what a car ! so he got the laps he wanted and we split the cost. But as we were leaving the track with everyone else, we inadvertently ( no honest ! ) took a wrong turn and got back into the queue for the next group to go round. Fearing the worst and being honest types, we decided that the best course of action was to hide the time displayed on the ticket behind the tax disc, we then sat in the queue waiting to be discovered until they opened the gates and it was too late, off we went again. Have to say that the next lot included a VW Camper and an ancient Bentley, they were also much slower than our group and treated the chicanes like junctions, the Mulsanne Straight was a joke, but after the Porsche Curves the Pace Car shot off up the start/finish straight and Lewis was on the gas, trouble was then we were up at the front so had to pull over to let a few past. Overall a bloody good laugh, and 2 free laps have meant Lewis and me can dine out for the next 6 months on the story tee hee.

75 Marcos at the Classic!! | #217
|
Having got stuck in the wrong queue, yet again, our little party got home some time after midnight, and the cars got slightly damp as we got nearer to home.
Quite fitting as we left in a downpour. After we got to the hotel on Thursday, apart from one short sharp shower on Friday morning, the weather was
brilliant, as reported above.

I think it's quite fitting that it should stay in France. It'll look good on one of the walls in the cottage!!
