Registered Member Posts: 69 Sat, 21-Feb-2009 11:53	Tags : None Hi -a query---when you have tyres changed etc. at a garage where is the best place for them to jack the car ? On my Mantara (presumably ,the Mantula and Mantis have a similar chassis configuration), according to the" manual", you jack on the front and back side rails by the the wheels ( locating pegs for scissor jack are provided) This doesn't work for the large trolley jacks. The larger jacking plate on them, when located overlaps and if used would try to jack up the fibreglass sill.----------Any thoughts, advice?

Registered Member Posts: 114 Sat, 21-Feb-2009 13:26	I take my own jack and insist on doing the jacking myself and tighten the wheel nuts myself I've recently had my original Marcos mag alloys ballanced, recently found these were hand cast and the centre hole normally used to locate the wheel and tyre on the balancing machine isn't concentric with the rim. The garage used an adapterplate to locate the wheel on the studs.

Registered Member Posts: 523 Sat, 21-Feb-2009 13:37	On my Mantula rear I always jack on the inboard part of the chassis either ahead or behind the wheel, where three members join, one of which is upright. If there are special jacking points outboard, near the sill, then I haven't noticed them. On the front I use the main chassis rails just in front of the wheel. On cars with any chance of chassis rust, the sills are a likely place, so I stay away from them on principle. Surely these guys can stick a wooden pad on their great big trolley jack ? I have had two cars damaged by idiots in tyre shops jacking on the wrong place, so when it comes to the Marcos, if it is not someone I really trust, then I take the wheels off at home and take them to the tyre shop. There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

Registered Member Posts: 104 Sun, 15-Mar-2009 19:46	i have a air jack in my car comes in a small holdall you put the jack um the car with the supplied pads top and bottom put the hose on your exhaust pipe and it raise the car up when desired height reached remove from pipe do your work and undo the valve on the air bag and down she comes, fold flat and put back in holdall no damage to underneath of any car can lift up to 3 ton easy to store and worthwhile cost of £60.00 regards HYDRAULIC1
