The Mantaray came back Thursday with new engine and re-spray (same colour). So, faced
with the choice of Metro or Mantaray ( the MIDAS is also back with rebuilt engine but the electrics need sorting) I took the Marcos up to Scotland for the
weekend, running in at 3000 revs - ample - like new only better. It felt like an aircraft on the motorway, smooth like a turbine, oddly fuel consumption is
better than my Metro, only £30 from Clapham South to M6 toll service in Birmingham as opposed to £35 the week before.
The engine was built by John Eales and is a new 4.6 shortblock with ported cylinder heads and inlet manifold specifically tuned to match the twin plenum along
with a JE fast road cam. Just beggining to notice little details like tickover adjusters on the throttle linkage and other things on the rest of the engine
that weren't there before, simply the best sorted, best sounding engine I have ever sat behind.
The bodywork and engine transplant + refettling was done by Techniques the Morgan dealers in Herts who also sorted out several of my botched mechanical jobs
over the years. They work like a team with JED and can't praise them both enough. Thanks Noccer for the original nod in that direction.
Big surprize was my heater and demister now work like they should - drove through some awful wind and rain on the M6 last night yet visibility and stability
was great.
I'm a very very happy bunny this morning, will put more info with pics up here when I get the time.
