well the latest seems that either the crankshaft sensor is faulty OR looking at a new ECU. The car actually started again today so we immediatley turned the
engine off and tried to start her again and again the car would not start?????? we tried to start the car 3-4 more times and it does not want to know so god
knows!!! you can imagine after 7 months of intense caring and finally getting her ready this now happens and kinda knocks the passion for this car a bit so i
will wait and see.

Boycey, very sorry to hear about the intermittent engine problem. Can understand you feeling a bit hacked off at the moment (been there myself many times over
the last three years, although perhaps not with the same outlay!), but looking on the bright side, it still looks fantastic even when it's stationary!
. I very much hope your auto-electrician identifies the problem & you don't have
to source another ECU. Best of luck with tracing the problem, & keep us all posted.

Yer in my territory now mate
Worst case scenario, get an omex 710 and program it yerself. Its not hard and you can get one for about £900. A new short loom from yer auto electrician should be about 200 quid. Get a perfect map for the engine. (unless its the crank sensor then its 20 minutes work and 50 quid) Either way....no disaster. You definately dont need a new engine. |

Lm600 update | #5 | ||
|
More detection work and this particular engine does not have a crankshaft sensor!! its all done on the distributer, so today i have driven to Kent where there is a Chevrolet dealership and have got a complete new distributer and ignition module we think its the ignition that is the problem not the ECU? tomm morning i will know. Gaz shocks are going to make a brspoke set of front/rear shocks as the ones on the LM are shot it just rides on the springs (feels like its on a mattress!) but its driveable, these new ones will be on in 3 weeks time (ready for Curborough) they will be adjustable and will make a massive difference to how the car drives it still goes very well but it lacks the sharp pointy nose feel!. All things crossed that its the ignition thats causing the problem if it is not then ECU time! so at this stage Ace cafe 50/50 if it will make it! |

Hi Boycey,
Re your springs being shot, I recently spoke to Koni re mine and a couple of their approved service agents both told me that if they are left just sitting there on a car without any movement for a period of time then they will go off, hence the reason why I am not going to get mine serviced until the very last moment before the car is finished. Did you not say previously you were taking the car to Topcats for setting up ? interested in this as I will need a proper set up myself eventually. Hope you can make it to Curborough, did not realise that your were intending to take it there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LffEy8Va3yo is the sound to beat !! Regards, Martyn......... |

LM600 engine trouble | #7 | ||
|
Hi Martyn the new shocks and springs are getting made by Gaz shocks ( as on richards p mantis) and on my old LM400 these are very good and will take about 2-3
weeks to manufacture as not the same set up as on the mantis and 400/500's. At the moment i cannot get the car to top cats i think it really needs to go
to a chevy engine tuning specialist with a rolling road rather than top cats as top cats do not use the same engine as in the Lm600. Still no further forward
in the mysterious non start problems, could be low fuel pressure? need a fuel pressure gauge tio test this ( cant get one anywhere!!) if its not that then its
the ECU so very unlikely i will be joining you at the Ace now and depending on availability etc and importing from the usa this could be 6 weeks!!!!!! i may
not even make the 50th yet!!!

Boycey - you are a gnat's crotchet away from making a thing of ultimate automotive beauty. Been away for a week and just picked up the threads re. shocks
and (partic.) non-start, and I'm almost crying, so god knows how you must be feeling after 7 months of gestation. Keep smiling and don't let it take
the gilt of what you have achieved - the ultimamarcos! If it doesn't start for Prescott will come over and push it myself- you gotta be there.

Does no news = Good news? I am hoping so! Just leaving Manchester, so... maybe I'll bump into an LM600 at West Wycombe Park (not literally... or there may
be trouble!
