I need to stick the (Aluminium?) plate with the Marcos logo onto the top of the upper intake manifold, & also stick the metallic plates with the Marocs
Quadcam logos back on the plastic spark plug covers... but, what with? Could do without sticking them back on again in 6 months time & it get's quite
warm in there I guess!

I stuck some RPI 4.0 badges to my rocker covers using two different methods and they have both worked so far: -
1. Halfrauds sell a metal glue (a grey putty like substance) that once hardened bonds meatl to metal and is heat resistant. 2. Engine enamel. I just painted the underside of the plaque and placed it on the rocker cover whilst wet. It stuck once dry (and is still stuck) but the contact surfaces need to be really clean. I swapped to option 2 because with 1. the metal glue needed to be a realatively thick layer to work and did not allow the plaque to sit flush. |

Adhesives in Engine Bay | #4 | ||

Having worked as a development chemist in the adhesives industry for nearly 40 years ( the last being with Ciba) I feel I should add a comment! I have used a
2-part epoxy adhesive(Araldite) to bond a decal on my rocker covers - both aluminium. Still there after a year. The most important thing is cleanliness.
Thoroughly abrade all the surfaces and clean with a suitable volatile solvent eg cellulose thinners ( not on some plastics) meths, isopropanol, Hammerite
thinners etc. Use a std 2-part epoxy adhesive not a putty or 5-minute type There are better temperature resistant adhesives but they are not easily available
and need special high temperature curing cycles. I doubt if the engine bay gets that hot.

Thanks all. Will try some suggestions out, as I'd like the engine to go back to looking a bit more 'Marcos'. (Plus the spark plug cover bolts are
rubbing abrading a coolant hose!)
