I might have the one in a thousand but my steering lock 'locked'. Taking the ignition switch off the back freed up the column lock and then started the
engine with the trusted swiss army knife - get you (me) home fix.
The barrel kit from Ford is only £15 and you can rebuild it to fit the key. BUT - if the barrel jams up altogether it could be another story because you need to turn the barrel to release it and if you can't do that = big job.
So - if the ignition lock is getting a bit temperamental - replace it.
