Anyone interested in going? (OldNoccer?)I've never been before but it looks fab, & intend to snaffle the third free ticket for Saturday (just in case you wanted to avoid me!). Registered Member Posts: 342 Thu, 2-Jul-2009 11:53 Junior mechanic	I will be there both days with the Mantara doing Dream Rides with Sporting Bears, its the clubs first involvement with the Pagent so trying to make a big impression ( and lots of money ) . I`ll track the club stand down and come and say hi . Likewise if any is in the Bears vacinity , drop in for chat.

Registered Member Posts: 646 Thu, 2-Jul-2009 21:34	Although Roger Garland of the Mini Marcos club organised the club plot this year and last he has been more than welcoming for any Marcos to come, and last year I was really impressed at how good this do was considering it was a first event (and showery weather). This is the North's equivalent of the Festival of Speed - timed runs round a large park circuit (rather than a hill-climb) for all manner of rare and exotic vehicles, but also a really big collection of club stands compared to all the trade stands at Goodwood. Also power boats on the lake, and a very large helicopter park for the dozens of people who prefer to come that way (obviously not Marcos owners, as they like to drive their cars). The exhibitor tickets give free admission for the driver only, but once in you can roam around and last year I was stunned by some of the GN cyclecars, and the monster Bentley with the Napier Lion aircraft engine which had flame thrower exhausts setting light to the grass outside the pit tents. Awesome ! This is worth supporting. Last year was the first event, and as with all these events I am sure a lot was learnt - so I reckon this year should be better still. There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

Hoped to get some things sorted but a visit to SP Automotive convinced me to try & save (Hah!) for a 'big bang' job in a year or two (or three). Wish me luck guys. Got the Mantara out this morning in near monsoon conditions so hey ho ! it can only get better. See somebody there maybe ?

Registered Member Posts: 354 Mon, 20-Jul-2009 14:40 Junior mechanic	Did anyone get there after all the rain ? I arrived at 9.00 am to get onto the Sporting Bears allocated area for dream rides and was confronted by a scene more like the Battle of the Somme but minus the gun fire ! Axle deep mud , grounds staff try to spread hay on the worst areas and general confusion all round . The show was a disaster from the Bears perspective with half mile walk from where the gazeebo and rides booking point was in the infield to where our cars were stabled on the outfield. Didn`t even think the pagaent was spell binding enough to endure day two so came home Saturday evening as even our B&B turned out to be dire , so a round trip of 250 miles was hardly time well spent Hope for a better time at Silverstone this weekend.

It wasn't particularly squishy where the (Mini)Marcos stand was on Saturday... but I suspect that might have changed by Sunday! Not having been there before I found the event quite enjoyable, but the circuit crossings were a bit of a bottleneck! Had an enjoyable catch-up with the other nine or so Marcos owners there, & hopefully drummed up some exhibitors for the tatton Show in August (the date of which I simply could not remember ). Sorry to hear you had such a grim time of it Mike . Some way to go before it's competing with Goodwood but pretty local so I hope it carries on. Registered Member Posts: 687 Tue, 21-Jul-2009 11:52	C'mon Q, I was only scraping the mud off. You boys missed a rain shower of biblical proportions on the Sunday. This event sure has been unlucky with the weather, but I enjoyed it. There were loads of club stands, the JCB display team (and the 1000bhp JCB GT!), and so many awesome cars you glazed over after a while. In the paddock tents I was amazed to see a couple of tiny electric vehicles with young girls in them waiting to go on the track, laughing and chatting away, while the other side was a McLaren M6 waiting to do just the same. Talk about extremes ! Here's the stand - backing directly onto the track - 10 assorted Marcoses - thanks to the MiniMarcos club for arranging it and welcoming us all on. Here is the gathering storm - straight from Mordor, looming over the castle on Sunday And even in a deluge the Spyker looked sexy and was ready to have a go round the track And the dancing diggers display turned into a re-enactment of the first world war.. And prize for the widest tyres goes to this little kit car - yum I suspect they will have regrets about what the miltary display and the JCBs did to the ground, but I am told the fireworks in the evening with 1812 overture and real cannons up at the castle was a blast (literally). They still have plenty of room for improvement, but I would say it was better attended than last year. Its a shame about the Sporting Bears location, they might have done better with a club stand, but a nice young girl from the Sporting Bears armed with handouts did pay us a visit, and she said she really liked Marcos cars. Registered Member Posts: 357 Tue, 21-Jul-2009 12:07 Junior mechanic	Hi Guys, really glad some of you had a good time , pity I never did over to you but I didn`t get to see any cars in the top display field where you obviously faired better being on a hill than down in the mire ! Nice display of Marcii , wish I had found you all. By the time I made the car look half way presentable to be seen by the public after it looked like I`d done the RAC rally in it , run back and forth several times across the park between cars and booking stand , I was too knackered to enjoy rest of show. By all all accounts things picked up Sunday for the Bears despite the down poor as they set up a second booking point by the cars and made a total of £2330 , not bad for a bit of shambles. Better luck next time maybe ? Glad our charming PR girls worked on you anyway Steve.
