Re: Ways to reduce lift-off oversteer (reply) I think it is more to do with abruptly unsettling the balance of the car rather than anything to do with bushes etc. Smooth is order of the day with power on and off and braking too , that you way you can contol the balance of the car. |

Alpine (reply) Got to admit the Maplin versions are going to look a bit naff in a Marcos, I fancy replacing my original Alpine unit with a newer version of the same but haven't worked out how to take the old one out yet..... |

Re: Ways to reduce lift-off oversteer (reply) I get the usual bump-steer which can be a little bit exciting at higher speeds but nothing like that. I've reduced the bump-steer I get by using wheel spacers at the front which, I guess, helps to correct the geometry of the chassis/wishbones etc. Makes ... |

Ways to reduce lift-off oversteer (topic) I discovered lift-off oversteer a few months ago, when pressing hard on a sweeping left hand bend. I backed off suddenly (not advised) and the car instantly tried to shoot towards the left. It was very exciting for a moment as my brain caught up with my ... |

Re: Rear axle (reply) The wide body cars are all IRS and originally used the Ford Sierra diff with the now rare 3.14 ratio - not LSD but can be converted. At some point Marcos changed to a Hydratrac diff - as they got a great price on them. Some cars are fitted with a ... |

Rear Axles (reply) Most of the early cars used the mk1 Capri rear axle. The build instruction specify this axle. However my 1970 3l V6 has a different axle as did a few others namely a Salisbury 7HA axle - this is not off a Cortina and has stronger halfshafts! |

Rear axle (topic) Can anyone tell me a bit about rear axles? Did the earlier cars (to 80's) use escort & cortina axles? I assume the Mantula's use the Capri rear axle. I have been reading some American magazines and they mention the 8.8 and 9 inch axles as being popular ... |
