There are a number of people who use a later Marcos as their only car, probably best to aim for one of the younger ones as the hood was modified in the mid '90's and seals slightly better in the rain, also they have the adjustable steeering column and a few other luxuries! Like all cars they are MUCH better when used regularly as you tend to shake out all the niggles and can get everything working properly, it is also a great way to get to know the car inside out. If you do use it everyday however, you need to pay a lot of attention to the chassis and expect it to deteriorate faster than a winter stored car; just remember not to try driving it in the snow.

They are pretty low with 6'' ground clearance but no worse than a T.V.R. or Porche. Never been in a multi-story in mine but would be very surprised if the car grounded out, the Mantara is a pretty standard width (5'8'' I think) so probably worth avoiding the LM's and Mantis as these are over 6' wide and can have trouble getting round the very tight corners (turning circle on my LM is 56 feet!!). There are a whole bunch of owners who go over to LeMans so they must go on and off a ferry OK.

The 2Lit GTS is supposed to be one of the best performing and handling Mantaras - and good looking to boot - but many people just can not resist the sound of the V8.

When properly sorted they are a dream to drive, but it is important to keep a sense of humor, being hand built they are going to break down sometime but they do go on the back of a standard AA and RAC recovery truck!

If you have the funds you could consider the Mantara coupe, no idea what "remedial work" it needs but there are so few coupes that this could be turned into a great car, saw it outside DC's house and it looked pretty appealing.

Best of luck finding your car, you are just going to love it. There are a number of owners in the Thames Valley so could get in touch with some local owners if that is helpful.
