Good show, tick that one off the list ... then onto the next problem
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

guess I'll just carry on talking to meself then..............
anyway, bloke off a Cortina site is sending me a lower wishbone as a pattern for me to use to convert to coilovers, I've seen 2 conversions done, but to be honest they consisted of welding up the lower wishbone and fitting a mounting point for the coilover. So thought I'd try and fabricate something a little lighter and more esthetically pleasing. I'm going to keep the roll-bar and the tie-bar set up, and just make a tubular lower wishbone with a mounting point for the coilover. The top wishbone can stay for the moment until I get round to making a tube version of that later. I also think that some of the Cortina crossmember can be cut away around the top suspension mount to lose weight and tidy it up a bit, it will also enable the coilover a greater degree of movement as the hole that the damper currently sits in is a bit tight. Anyone like to comment ? |

I do read your posting and occasionally post a reply, but the actual work seemed to have died down a bit of late.
Still at least you had the foresight to leave out a year in the original topic heading |

The truth is out there..... we are not alone.....
well, nice to here from you both, it will all become obvious when I start posting the photos. Have to say, after last years last minute disaster and all the work that was done, plus the crap weather I did lose heart a bit, but after going down to the garage and seeing the car, I realise it will all be worthwhile. I should also point out that my house is virtually falling down, apart from the new extension I built, so I'm busy trying to fix that up at the same time, and guess what Ms Eztop wants done first ? 'a kitchen would be nice' I've got the money to buy a new one, but instead I've taken on the huge job of renovating some 1950s English Rose units I bought off ebay. I have a habit of seeing something and saying 'that looks good' only to find I've taken on a job most Pro's would walk away from. I will get there in the end, or die in the attempt. And it's not that expensive a car to keep, it only cost me £2000 on the road, so well worth throwing a few bob at eh. night off from the pub tonight, and bog all on telly again............bugger, I'll do bit of research then |

the jackson racing manifold fits but i may need to make a plinth to relocate the charger on-it's all down to money! Engine fits in nicely though and is an
easy swap complete with ecu etc. will post a roughly what to do post when i know myself.

nice to hear from you Tewit mate and glad all is going well, bet you'll be up for a coilover conversion too at some time ? so stay tuned for info.
have you got a proper exhaust for yours ? I've still got the rear pipe and box in stainless steel off mine. it's about 6 foot long and tucks up nicely under the car, just needs a downpipe, sounds good (straight through) and I think it's a 2'' bore, PM me and we'll talk cheap |

still cant get the bloody photos to work, it downloads them into my Images File but won't let me post them. it all used to work, so for now if you want to
see the start of the mods I'm doing you'll have to click on my name and look in the folder for suspension mods.
I've started to cut away anything not needed, first to go are the bump-stops which are integral on coilovers, then the original cortina engine mounts which aren't used anyway. then I started tidying up the front chassis mount. The Cortina used huge rubber mounts to fix the crossmember to the car, but with the Marcos it's just 4 bolts through the chassis. I've also cut away most of the top fitting for the spring, this will alow me to move the position of the top fitting for the coilover. Still more to do yet, and then some welding to give better structural integrity. will still try to post for photos, but am runnung out of ideas, anyone else had this problem, every time I click the 'insert image' button, it just says 'error on page', if I click to see what the error is it says ' this page does not support this' bugger and double bugger. The icons don't work either trebble bugger

I am no expert lets get that clear.
Have you changed your image handling software. I use paintshop pro and sometimes it defaults to saving images in its own file type which hardly anyone else recognises. Are you sure your images are saving as JPEG or similar not sure what file types yuku will allow. Sorry if this is a bit basic and your already a guru. I had a problem with yuku previously get logging me out so i could never see the new posting folder icons. Damm thing fixed itself all fine now and I didn't change anything. |

right, whilst I'm on a winner, that was the before, and here's the after
that should take some of the useless waste away, just need to design the coilovers now, but I've got some ideas...

aha, well, I've thought of that and have a cunning plan.......... I've got an interim design based on what others have done, so can use car this year
(I hope ) and can fit new design for next year, or if the weather's as good this year as last, I can do it this summer eh |
