update mon 9th feb | #41 | ||
|
Been to have a look, the car is now in a different part of the body shop, the bonnet is drying off in the paint booth, it still has not had the extra coats of
laquer yet, as the carbon fibre is still rubbed down, the exhaust system is not finished yet, and the car is on the ramps ready for this this week,
unfortunately the guy doing all the work, his wife is not very well so has delayed works on the car!, looks like this week the exhaust system will be done, the
car paintwork finished off and i reckon next week it will be all put back together then it will just leave the interior ( 2 weeks work) and painting calipers
etc.
Gary will be uploading pics today of some more pics, but does not look much different, the doors are not properly fixed yet. Another update either this fri or next mon |

Thanks Brian, yes all of a sudden the car is looking more finished!! i reckon its still about a month away when ready to drive her? the interior has not been
started yet, but this will not take long, as i have most of the bits to put in already!!. Just need to get the carbon fibre door cards/ dash made will take
about a week. Its going to be laquered next week, then it will be put back together properly and all the bits put back on, the carbon fibre rear wing looks
amazing 6ft so looks right on the back of the car which is 6ft 7" wide!!.
Keep watchin, more pics next week !!! |

lm600 update 20th feb 2009 | #51
|
Ok well been back to check on the progress and the exhaust system is just about finished ( i have taken a pic underneath the car to show how it looks!) all
stainless steel, inc the welding, the system has just 2 small back boxes again stainless and the system has also been fully wrapped to protect the body etc
from heat!!, the fuel pump will need to be relocated as it currently sits too near the new design!! also the hand brake cable assembly under the car will
also need to be re located as it effects the overall ground clearance of the car, i will have just over 3 inches of total ground clearance so any bits that sit
lower than the aliminuim flat under side of the car needs to be raised!!. Not heard her fire up yet as the engine has been fully drained to remove the sump
and make the sump guard fit properly. Next week the car is going to be laqured and then re assembling the car, 2 weeks time they will start the interior up
grade. I will send Gary a pic of the under side early next week for him to upload. So mid March seems more of a completion time scale, just in time for the
weather to improve!!

All the chassis underneath is going to be treated next week and painted satin black, along with the suspension arms, etc, and the inner wheel arches, under
bonnet will also be painted satin black, the car is coming on strong now, by friday this week the car will be laquered and finished, the carbon fibre wing/side
running boards/vents etc will also be laquered, and will start putting the car back together, the lights will also be installed, indicators fitted and the door
pop open system installed, i have just purchased an electronic tyre pressure monitoring system also which will be fitted prob next week, it will have sensors
fitted to the valves on the wheels, and an in car digital display will advise of loss of pressure per wheel!! great as the car will spend more time sitting in
the garage than driving!! the trimmers are coming to look at the car next week to discuss what i want, orange leather padded sections is on the cards for the
carbon fibre seats!! so more pics by friday this week once the carbon fibre bits have been put back on and wheels fitted etc, you will really see the potential
of how this car is going to look!!.

LM600 update 27th FEB | #57
|
Hello again over 3000 views!!!! fantastic, its really getting a great following now is the Lm600!! anyway been to have a look today, and the latest is: the
complete bespoke echuast system is completed, they actually had laid it out as a complete section on the floor me to see how they designed it!! ( they are very
proud of this!!!) now i have seen it (and photographed it) they will be putting back on to the car today, they have also painted the discs (heat proof) in
satin black and look really good, the calipers have been rubbed down ready to paint ( in the same colour as the body) they are doing these today also, the
aliminuim sump guard has been made and fitted ( see pics when Gary uploads them Monday?) various needed adjustments have been made also to the suspension
assembly, mounting points etc, (ie wrong size bolts used in places etc) so the carbon fibre exterior is still not fitted, but this going to be done next week
as well as the laquer of the paint work, so car does not look much different from last time, but now the attention is all under the car at the moment, they
have cleaned up the fly wheel, drive shaft, etc as rusty due to lack of use!! and re coated and looking very clean ( potential concours contender now!!!) ha
ha, still reckon mid march completion, and Martin the main man who is restoring this car is coming to the 50th anniversary also, he is that proud of his work
and is getting a real buzz out of getting this car perfect!! he is a seriously talented man has worked on Richard P's mantis , top bloke. So more new
pics next Friday, hopefully of the car looking more completed looking.
