If the answer is "Look at the ECU!" then my next question is, of course, how can I interrogate the ECU?
TIA

Anyone know how to measure what is being received from the following sensors, which I believe all have a bearing on the fuelling;

Unregistered user?, Why not come in out of the cold? It's painless, free and opens other options up to you. Spare less than a minute of your time and register here, go on, you know it makes sense! |

Presumably this is the system on the Ford quad-cam - in which case what make/type is it ? I have info on the Rover system (Lucas 14CUX), I don't know what
the Ford has.
And - yes - they are the main sensors that influence the fuelling - though the engine temperature sensor is also pretty important, and usually fairly easy to check if you can find the spec. There may be one or two other minor sensors, like air temperature. Then there is the idle air control which is a little stepper motor that adjusts the idle - they have been know to stick. Steve
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

No-one? No-one's ever connected to ECU?
Does anyone know any garages that can do this? (I assume MHs can but they are not really 'round the corner' from Manchester Anyone had to replace an ECU?

I now MHS can check the ECU but I believe it will just give the error codes for any issues.
Let me know how far you get as it would be good to know. Dave Chivers did tell me that the Air Flow meter never seems to go wrong. |

Someone mentioned to me that "Marcos" changed the connection on the ECU so it is not a standard fit, but this could all be make believe.

As quoted by Mr Q himself......
I looked into this a few months ago when I thought I had an ECu problem. Don't know if the SC Mantis is the same, but Marcos replaced the standard Ford diagnostic connector with one of their own I have a cable & s/w from a guy in the US which will tell you everything (& then some) that the StarTester does, so long as you have a laptop. History, graphics etc etc. Lots of fancy stuff. As soon as I can work out what connector Marcos changed the diagnostic lead to I will be able to use it! Am currently talking to Dave Chivers about this to see if we can suss it out. |

Hi Quiffster !
Did you ever get this connector question resolved ? I may need this information shortly because of the fun I'm having with a non-staring engine on my Mantis.(see separate post on 'Fun in Le Mans') Ciao ! |

Mixel Del Max wrote:I didn't I'm afraid. One of the Mantis down a the Ace Cafe meet a few weeks ago had some spade connectors into the bespoke Marcos socket, going to an ODBII socket which is one way to solve the problem! It's on another thread here but I think only three cables required - power & a data feed. If I ever get the chance, will probably have a stab at doing it that way. Sorry that's not much help.
