This isn't Chris, it's his buddy Gary. Chris has asked me to come on here for a bit of advice.
Chris is returning (or not) from France in his V8 Mantis. In Clermont-Ferrand, on a start, the engine stalled immediately, and subsequent attempts were met with a thud and obvious torque on the engine, implying some kind of interference. He was relayed to a local garage, whereupon much head scratching took place. I speak some French, so asked them to try and turn the crank manually. They say it will turn approx. 2cm in each direction before meeting resistance. The mechanics seem to think the aircon pump is seized and is preventing the engine from cranking. I disagree, as I can't imagine the aux belt would be capable of holding that!
But I may be wrong. I'm not too familiar with the engine. Any comments? The mechanics are trying to source a new pump, and haven't even removed the aux belt to test their theory yet.
Thanks!
