I had a whine from my Mantula's rear nearside wheel and ordered a new wheel bearing from Rory. The local garage fitted it about a month ago and no more
whining. However, when I had it MOT'd today (at the same garage, by the same mechanic) there was oil seeping out of the drum. He reckoned that the oil seal
has gone, but I have checked my exploded view of the axle in my Haynes book and it doesn't show any seals, only one between the diff and the propshaft.
Mind you, my Haynes is for a Mk 1Capri and I have a Mk2 capri axle.
I reckon it was down to something he has (or has not) done, although it was only a bearing change. I took the drum off today and it is definitely hypoy oil and it's all over the inside of the drum
Comments appreciated
