Hi
I've had some dash related electric problems and ended up replacing my immoblisierm and removing a long defunct alarm system. My problem is that my Tacho
no longer works. It's a standard Speedex, as fited and marketted by Jem, and the wiring seems simple. Pos, neg and "sensor" to live side of the
coil - but no RPMs displayed. I've tried various things, and if I connect the "sensor" wire to the switch (old days = points) side of the coil
then I get RPMs but it kills the engine. In the wiring I removed, I found a diode, and I've tried putting this in the sensor circuit on the switch side on
the coil, and the engine hunts a bit, then settles at a lower (kinda edgey) tickover, and the RPMs register. I've aslo tried a capacitor, and the engine
still dies. I assume this is something to do with no points in an injection/ECU controlled car, and wonder if anyone has any idea on the correct wiring
connection for the "sensor" wire?
Cheers
