The engine in mine was registered as part of a Morgan V8 batch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgan_Plus_8 The Morgans used the Rover R380 gearbox http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/gearboxes.htm But I could be wrong about this.....

I would also expect R380 (Rated to 380Nm). The Mantula had the LT77, and the R380 was in the Mantara (so thats about 1993 onwards, as I think the first may
have had the LT77) , and I think the production went on a long time as it was the mainstay Land Rover gearbox until 2006, so I expect it was used in the
Mantaray - in fact you can still get them from RPI - the late large bearing LT77 gearboxes are a rather rarer beast.

There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

Well it was never going to be an LT77 ! The Mantaray is 1999-on !
However, they could have used something different in the Mantaray, like a BW T45, or a Jag Getrag, or Tremec - but I suspect they stayed with R380 as used in the Mantara. It ticks all the boxes. Steve
